Materials

  • Only materials that not subject to corrosion can be used.
  • The ladders are made of aluminum alloy profiles, anodized 10 micron, natural mat finishing, and fasteners (bolts, rivets and washers) of stainless steel A2-70 DaN/mm2. Joint washers, bushes, plugs, and other materials in polyamide and elastomer are also used.
  • No protective treatment, painting, or maintenance is required, except when exposed to aggressive environments. No welding is allowed.
  • Rungs are clinched into the uprights. Bolts and rivets are used for all other assembly.
  • Ladders are offered in polyester powder coating in any RAL color.

Installation

  • Cage ladders are installed vertically.
  • Fixing clamps of a single type are used to attach wall fasteners and safety cage hoops to the ladder uprights. They can be clipped to the ladder uprights at any desired position.
  • Ladders expand freely within anchor brackets, without deformation or damage, to allow for thermal expansion of ladders and wall structures.
  • For lateral access, the upper rung is at approximately 1.5m above the upper point of access. For access from the top, widened upright projections can be used, allowing a passageway of at least 62cm. In this case, the upper rung is at level with the access floor.

Dimensions

  • JOMY cage ladders correspond to standards EN 131 and ISO 14122-4.
  • Ladders are composed of standardized elements of 3.36m maximal length, assembled to the desired length. These elements are connected by perforated aluminum sleeves that are shifted inside the uprights. Bolts are used for fastening.
  • The uprights are spaced at 400mm. The rung axes are spaced at 280mm.
  • Ladder uprights have oblong sections of 75mm x 25mm x 2mm with rounded corners.
  • The rungs are round at 37mm with a flattened and grooved anti-slip upper face.

Safety Cages

  • The manufacturer can equip the ladder with a safety cage, consisting of hoops and vertical bars.
  • According to standard ISO 14122-4(machinery access), a safety cage is required for ladders above 3m (except when a lifeline is used).
  • JOMY safety cages have hoops that are bent to hollow square profiles of 25mm x 25mm x 1.5mm. The five cage uprights are hollow round profiles of 18mm x 2.5mm.
  • The safety cage is available with complete hoops, 3/4 hoops, or 1/2 hoops.
  • The free passage within the safety cage is +/- diam 70cm.
  • The vertical distance between the hoops can be fixed freely according to required specifications. It is recommended to limit this vertical distance to a maximum of 1m.
  • Ladders can be equipped with safety cages with rest platforms. These are available in multi-flight composition.
