Stairs and Intermediate Landings: All stairs and intermediate landings as shown on architects drawings shall be as supplied by JOMY® Products, Inc., 4635 Nautilus Court South, Boulder, CO 80301 in accordance with plans and shop drawings as provided.
All stairs and intermediate landings shall be made from custom extruded anodized 6063 T-6 aluminum profiles with stainless steel fasteners. Stairways and intermediate landings shall support the dead load plus a live load of not less than 100 pounds per square foot (4.79 kN/m2) and shall be provided with a handrail where specified in the architects drawings. All stair and intermediate landing railings shall support a horizontal force of not less than 50 pounds per lineal foot (729.5 N/m) of railing. The balustrade of each landing shall not be less than 42" high. Pickets and rails shall be configured such that a 4" diameter sphere cannot pass through, except at triangular openings formed by riser, tread and rail which shall not permit a 6" diameter sphere to pass.
Stairs shall have a minimum width, as specified by the architect, of __ inches (___ mm). Handrails may project into the required width a distance of 3 1/2 inches (89 mm) from each side of stairway. The rise of the steps shall be not less than 4 inches ((102 mm) nor greater than ___ inches (254 mm). Treads shall be ___ inches (254 mm) in depth.
Composition and Materials: Staircase and intermediate landings are to be of custom extruded 6063 T-6 and 6061 T-5 aluminum sections. Tubular balusters are to be formed from 6005-T5 and T6 alloy. Stair treads are to be custom extrusions of 6063 T-6 aluminum capable of supporting a minimum of 100 pounds per square foot with less than a _ deflection. Stringers are to be formed from custom extrusions of 6063 T-6 aluminum precision milled to receive guardrail posts and locked in horizontal position by two support tubes per tread.
Attachment hardware including expansion bolts and pop-rivets are to be of stainless steel and are to be provided by JOMY® Products, Inc. All staircase connections for installation are to be accomplished with stainless steel fasteners, and no on-site welding.
Finish: All aluminum components shall have a clear anodized finish on exposed surfaces unless ordered in a custom color. All individual sections shall be separately wrapped in plastic film and shipped to the site designated by the contractor.
Installation: The contractor shall furnish and install the JOMY® Staircases where indicated on the architectural/ engineering drawings. To ensure satisfactory performance, the manufacturers installation instructions, included with each shipment, must be strictly followed. Technical assistance is available from a team of qualified installation technicians.
Warranty: The JOMY® Staircases, Balconies and Counter-Balanced stairs are warranted to be free of any defects in materials or workman-ship for 10 years if installed according to manufacturer specifications.
